Warning. Long entry coming your way. During Holy Week, I did nothing but watch How I Met Your Mother, blog and surf the internet. It was starting to seem all so pathetic until I stumbled upon this entry.

It was an entry about Cafe 1771 by Kai Palileo of happymonthsary.net (do check it out, lovebirds). I found the place so cute so I kept reading on, and I got all excited when I read Kai's parting words:
"Which side are you on? Whimsy or Lounge? Leave your answers in my post's comments part and get a chance to win Cafe 1771 goodies!"
I loved the illustrations they placed below the counter. I want.

A contest! I didn't think twice about joining. I replied right away without over-thinking my answer. My answer was WHIMSY! After hitting the submit button, I was already excited for Kai to announce the winner.

I told R about it, and she was as excited as I was, and as happy as I was when we won the contest! I love blogs! We told the rest of the team about the contest, and soon after, we were at Cafe 1771 meeting Kai and Cy in person.
Kai and Cy of happymonthsary.net. Thanks so much guys! I also loved the plates behind them. Team whimsy!

F and R ready for battle.

Kai and Cy were very nice and welcoming. They explained how cafe 1771, Wine Bar and Sidebar are all under the Chateau group. Sidebar, by the way, is a special place because N and I used to go there when we were still officemates. It was one of the places that contributed to the emergence of our scandalous office romance. EGAD.
N already adding Cafe 1771 to his foursquare.

Me. Because I wanted an anonymous photo, too.

On to the prize. Kai and Cy generously awarded us with the following:
Fried Squash Flowers. This was really good. Even tasted better when F insisted we eat it with the arugula.

Baked Eggplant Rolls. R really liked this one. And that should only mean that it was very good since R HATES vegetables or anything that's green or leafy or doesn't have a face.

Ricotta Cheesecake Renverse. This was very rich and the flavor was really strong. The five of us shared this small piece and but the serving was just right.

We also thought of trying out the other dishes, of course. Before dinner, R and I had spent quite a chunk of our day reviewing the menus and thinking of what to eat. We ordered from both the Whimsy and Lounge menu.

The prizes were wiped out by the time C arrived.

Spanish Paprika Chicken. I ordered this. It would've been good if the meat wasn't so tough.

N's Swiss Cheese Toast with Prosciutto. N liked it. Just when you thought he was aiming for healthy... But anyway, how can you go wrong with prosciutto?

F's Salmon Cheeseburger. Cy recommended this to F. Doesn't it look like a delicious mouth saying AAAHHH? F enjoyed this.

R's Roast Chicken SW. This was huge. R couldn't finish it. I was about to volunteer my spacious stomach but something distracted me, and when I remembered to ask her to give it to me, it was gone. Where did it go?

C's Sardine Anchovy SW. C loved his sandwich. I asked him: "Good?" He replied na may papikit-pikit pa while nodding. He showed the most love.

R's Coffee Pie. Expect her to find loopholes for everything. You see, R is not allowed to drink coffee. So she just ate it. I liked this better than the cheesecake.

We weren't able to say goodbye to Kai and Cy, nor thank them again because we were engrossed in our conversation. We also left the place pretty late. Once again, Thank you, Kai and Cy! We had so much fun!
