When "c" first invited us to watch Emir, I was hesitant to watch. A Filipino musical? I'm already dubious of most Filipino movies and hardly watch any, since I always get annoyed with the half hearted acting and bad storylines. So hearing about a Pinoy musical made me even more skeptical. Is this something Filipino film makers could pull off?

But even with my doubts, I decided to go since there wasn't anything else I wanted to do anyway. And I was pleasantly surprised to see that the movie was actually pretty good. It was quite long, over 2 hours, and it could've been made shorter if some of the songs weren't quite as long.  But nevertheless, I was pretty entertained the whole time. It was also refreshing to see virtual unknowns make such an impact on this movie. There were hardly any big names except for a select few like Julia Clarete and Dulce (who was amazing in this movie), but they still weren't huge stars either. The main character was played by Frencheska Farr, whom I've never even heard of. I think she won some singing contest in GMA.  Even the extras in the movie were entertaining. And there were a lot of extras mind you.

The movie was actually funded by the government which explains the big budget and the beautiful production design. This just goes to show that we are actually capable of creating beautiful movies if only we can have the proper budget for it.

Yes the movie had a lot of flaws. It is a first for us Filipinos after all. But, for the first time in years, I was able to really enjoy a Filipino movie because I was able to see talent. Not just from the actors but from every single one who made this movie. So bravo to the team of Emir. Hopefully, we see more of these kinds of movies and be able to finally step away from the usual love story formula movies we Filipinos are known for.

Moved out of my condo where I lived for around 4 years.
Full of memories, this was my first home away from "Mommy and Daddy".
A taste of independence and a reward as well, it was a place I truly called my own.
I could do anything here or totally nothing.

My old place. No more furniture.
Ransacked and left behind.
BTW, I'm bringing those shoes with me... and the lamp.

Here's a peek at the ongoing renovation.
Should be done by this week.
Will take pics once it's done.
Maybe during the housewarming with I, R, F, C, B and J.

The living room before renovation.

During.

Wait for the after.
Very exciting.

This is N, and I'm changing for the better.

The iPhone 4 is finally out.
Sexy.
New hardware and software makes is a worthy upgrade for all the iPhone lovers.

- front facing camera for video calling
- 5MP camera w/ LED flash
- HD Video recording at 720p 30fps
- iOS 4 which includes "multi-tasking", merged email inbox, and folders
- 4x better resolution
- 40% better battery life

Still miss a proper keyboard though. I think I'm over the iPhone.

Will wait for the BB 9800 slider.
Sexy too... check it out.

Beautiful.

This is N, and I'm a sexy whore.

Here's the thing. Sometimes I like Anne Curtis, sometimes I don't. And in this movie, I super did! I thought the movie would suck but it didn't! I loved it! The usual. Rich boy, poor girl. But I liked the twist! Watch eeet!

This is way overdue but what the heck.

iPad and case. Hands down. Winner. Thank you, N!

Coolness Ring. I'm not revealing the brand because I don't want people to make gaya. Thank you, R!

Bee Cheng Hiang Tapa. She gave me like an ass-load! Thanks, Princess Glutton!

Crash the Ash. Image-heavy book. I love it. Thanks, Sir Paul!

Sting Ray lighter holder. Sorry, PETA. Thank you, Marts!

F, I forgot to take a photo of your Ginataang Sigarilyas.

Best Birthday ever.

A few months ago I had a chance to meet Thor. He used to work at my office and dropped by to visit my office mates and invite them to the opening of Space Encounters, a new furniture store in Emerald Ave., Ortigas. I looked at the flier and found it really interesting so I told N all about it since he was looking for furniture for his new place. Much to my disappointment, N got to visit it first before I could since his office was just nearby. He told me that the place was really nice and that made me want to see it even more.

I don't know how our goal to save up led to shopping but somehow it did so here are my SM finds:

IN 2 IT lipstick in Pink Alarm:

If the sales lady said that R would look like Anne Curtis after two coats of her nude lipstick, I assumed I'd look like the sales lady after 2 coats of this pink one, as she was wearing the same shade. Haha!

I didn't want to buy the lipstick first since I promised I'd only spend 200 bucks (maximum) for a pink lipstick. After much pressuring from R, I caved and bought the damn thing for 375, I think. Whatever happened to cheap make up in SM??? I went over budget with this one. I still firmly believe that the lipstick was expensive because of they put "diamonds" on it. Haha.

 Ms. Couture navy blue romper:
The main reason why I bought this was because I fit in a size S. Woohoo!

It took about two rounds in SM, one round in Building A, and a limping, high-heeled R,  before I decided that the romper was worth buying. for 1,200 bucks I still don't have any regrets. Mainly because I haven't used it. We'll see.

Parisian Flora Wedges:
This is the girliest pair of shoes that I own. Seriously.

Initially, I was aiming for navy blue shoes but I couldn't find any that I liked so good thing we saw these because they were really cute. Buying this would mean exceeding the 2000 peso budget but oh well. I could just blame it on the lipstick tomorrow.

So that's that. R and I have another adventure coming up on Saturday... Til then.

Saturday, June 5, 2010

Since our Coron trip, we've all made a vow to stop spending till we can save up for our next trip in July. (more about that soon!) But... being the "malandi" girls that we are, it would only be a matter of time before we (meaning me and "i) would be itching to spend again. And since "i" just recently got some unexpected perks from her office, she's been itching to spend it all. Me? I was just itching to spend with her.

But! We did promise to save up so we made ourselves a challenge. Go shopping with a P2,000 peso budget, in SM Megamall! Now that may seem a little steep for some people but with the list of things we wanted to buy, I think we did pretty well. Stupid me though, I wasn't able to take pictures of what I got but here are a few pictures that'll give an idea of what I was able to buy.

Nude lipstick for P349 (the saleslady promised my lips would look like that after)

A vest from this store called Mental. It's kinda like this but a little weirder and in white. I loved it so much I didn't take it off anymore. It was 50% so only P800

Because the shoes I was wearing was killing me. And, it was on sale at P699.

I was able to get another top/dress from Mental. It's a weird looking piece. I can't describe it except that for some reason it makes me feel a little androgynous. It's so unlike me which is why I love it so. And again, on sale for P350! So if you compute everything, I maaaay have gone a little over budget. But P200 pesos over isn't bad for all these wonderful things I was able to buy!!! Overall, our challenge was a resounding success!

Till the next payday!
