My husband and I recently went to Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia. It was a semi planned trip because we have been wanting to have like a second honeymoon to jumpstart our "making a baby" season. (haha!) But we initially intended to go somewhere locally. However, when we were booking our flights at Cebu Pacific Airlines, curious little me decided to check on the rates of a round trip fare to Kota Kinabalu (their promotional marketing gimmicks are obviously working on me). Next thing we knew we were booking our flight and hotel!

In the end it turned out pretty well. We were finally able to see what the fuss was all about with the beaches there. To be fair, they have really nice beaches, very clean and pretty much a nice place to visit. It's just that living here in the Philippines, my standards of what beaches should be like are pretty high. Boracay alone can whip Kota Kinabalu's ass in half. You can't even compare. Which made it a little depressing for us since we saw so many tourists while we were there (to think we came during the rainy season). We definitely can do better in terms of boosting our tourism here. We need to showcase what makes our country beautiful and not the politics, the dirty games, the crimes. If people saw just half of what we have to offer, maybe we wouldn't be in this rut.
