So, when they told me that I would be going to Singapore for work I was naturally excited. I had such a great time the last time I was there, I was sure I was going to have fun this time around. Especially since "work" was more like a junket than anything else. I was definitely feeling spoiled when I found out that we would be flying business class. The last time I went on business class anything was when I tagged along with my dad years ago to the US. And let me tell you, business class (or first class no doubt) is the only way to travel. It is amazing what money can get you out of. We didn't have to line up at the airport entrance, we had a separate line at the check in counter (with red carpet mind you) and the immigration counter, and of course, there's the lounge. The PAL lounge was a bit of a disappointment since it didn't look very classy to me and there were just too many darned people around. But the lounge in Singapore... oh wow. They have massage chairs there you can use to relax. And i'm not talking about those cheap massage chairs that just shake, these babies make you feel like there is actually a person there massaging every tense bone in your body. Ahhhh....
Once in Singapore I was still feeling "yabang" and pampered since they booked us in five star hotel in the middle of the business district.
our hotel room (i had to share the room unfortunately)
just half of the bathroom with the gorgeous view
Now, I don't want to sound ungrateful since the company did pay for all of these things but this trip (even with all its perks) didn't come quite as close to my last one. I guess maybe because I wasn't with friends, or maybe it was because it was still work, but this wasn't as fun as I expected it to be. OR... maybe it was also because of the fact that on our first chance to go out, my collegues decided to go to Hooters (Yes Hooters!) for drinks. OR... maybe because the for the first 2 days there, I kept on eating crappy fast food. OR... maybe I'm just a brat. I don't know. I do know that there was one night i snuck out and got happily drunk thanks to my Singaporean friends, oh, and ate authentic chicken rice by the side of the street, oh, oh, oh!!! and discovered that there is now a Forever 21 in 313@ Sommerset in Orchard Road. (4 floors!!!) so then again, maybe this wasn't so bad after all!
really... Hooters!
